woven whispers & soft statements: a night with studio sydney design
Share
on saturday may 30th, we turned our shop into a softly lit haven of texture, light, and calm. sydney brought in her hand-tufted pieces—quietly bold, softly sculptural, and full of feeling. it was a night for slowing down, sipping matcha, and letting the textures do the talking.
meet sydney.
artist. designer. intuitive maker. with roots in iowa and a practice grounded in observation and flow, she weaves calm into every inch of her work. her tufted pieces feel like a deep breath—each one an ode to slowness and the beauty of handmade things.
a little texture therapy.
her cushion covers are crafted from reclaimed and vintage textiles, finished with a cozy crochet edge. the vibe? old meets new, soft meets structured. they belong just as much on your reading nook sofa as they do on our gallery wall.
let there be (soft, sculptural) light.
the lamps? pure poetry. warm, ambient glow. organic shapes. a little bit of sculpture, a little bit of soul. perfect for rooms that like to feel like a hug.
centerpiece of the night? this one.
sydney’s wall-hanging mirror piece stopped everyone in their tracks. bold and tender all at once, it featured two quiet figures lounging in a hand-tufted dreamscape—framed by painterly lines, earthy tones, and a golden circular mirror that caught the light just right. it felt like a portal, a soft invitation to reflect—literally and emotionally.
mocktails + matcha = main character energy.
jane coffee + matcha brought the comfort with dreamy green lattes and their signature warmth. but the real scene-stealer? a strawberry matcha-tini mocktail that gave full summer fling energy. might bring it to my next situationship.missed it? you're in luck.
sydney’s work is hanging around (literally) at our georgetown shop through june 29th. every piece—from the dreamy tufted pillows to the sculptural lamps to that stunning mirror tapestry—is available for sale. come see them in person (and maybe take one home).
